Bakeria 1010 will reopen at 955 Asbury Avenue in Ocean City, owner Mike Fitzick posted on Instagram on Friday, Apr. 19. The pizzeria was located in The Exchange on New Road in Linwood and closed in February 2023.

Fitzick, who also goes by the nickname "The Pizza Jew," said he's excited to revive the restaurant from a "pile of ashes."

"The new venue will be in a local spot, yet slightly seasonal as well," wrote Fitzick. "Expect all your old favorites and clearly some insane upgrades. 😈 I didn't want to change the old Bakeria menu too much as we were doing pretty good in terms of quality and consistency and that menu was what I ended up with after years of [research and development]."

According to its website, Bakeria 1010 specializes in "pizza a teglia," which is Italian for "pan pizza," and uses an all-natural baking process.

"The dough is risen using a sourdough starter from Naples, Italy," the website's menu said. "Each slice is topped with a selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients. Every day, the pizzaiolo will surprise you with a different tasteful artwork."

The restaurant lists 12 pizza choices, along with the "Pizza 1010 Surprise" made from the chef's choice of four toppings. The menu also offers paninis, focaccia flatbread sandwiches, and fresh desserts made daily.

Fitzick also said Bakeria 1010 is hiring employees and could open as soon as early May.
